Airtel’s claim of fastest network false, misleading: RJIL
The claims of Airtel that it is India’s fastest network is false, misleading and incorrect, alleged Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL), adding that the claims is being made by Airtel acting in mala fide manner in collusion with Ookla, LLCwho profess to be experts in the domain space of testing mobile internet speed.
RJIL further informed that the advertisement released by the Airtel are on the basis of a so-called award dated February 24 (2017) issued by Ookla LLC, operator and owner of the website www.speedtest.net naming Airtel as ‘India’s Fastest Mobile Carrier’. With the knowledge that the methodology adopted for to determine the mobile internet speed was completely flawed. The speeds that are being attributed to Airtel’s network may not necessarily relate to their network at all. The very same technology provider Ookla, LLC represented to RJIL that RJIL’s network was the fastest in Q2 and Q3 of 2016.
