Raikheda School scored remarkable result in Tilda block, Students coached and mentor by GCEL Engineers

Every parent has a dreams that after completion of Education, their child will earn by living through Job. But there are also some parents who opine that girls are supposed to carry out the household tasks only. Hence, there is no harm in sending their girl child to school till secondary education but when it comes to higher Education the ratio of Girl child decreases. It has also been noticed that despite attending 10 year of education in rural school, Confidence of students to face board exams and score good result is meagre. A support to school teachers and parents was provided by team of engineers for nonexistence of exposure to various options, which team wants to address through the project is Confidence building and Mentoring of Class X and XII students to get good results and choose better career options. 5 employees of GMR Chhattisgarh Energy Ltd (GCEL) under highly sophisticated project of social volunteering have been aimed to create awareness for importance of education from various departments, NGO and CSR where 100% enrolment of children in nearest Government and Private Schools could be ensured.
The Group of team Associate Manager Nanita Khare, Associate Manager Anusha G, Manager Deepak Singh Rana, AGM Gladwin Masih under headship of General Manager Manish Shrivastava have picked one government and a private Higher secondary Schools of village Raikheda and screened by following objectives including improving students’ examination scores or ensuring ‘no failures’, students of class XII have options to choose career opportunities, help to improve library, labs or other teaching facilities, building confidence to face board examinations, E-enabling courses by making materials, manuals, questions and answers available to students and to include students in the assessment and revision of curriculum.

The team had series of meetings with Government and Private school teachers & Students where a general elucidation on the concept and objective of the project was given to the Teachers. On the basis of feedback of previous results, facilities in the school, exam schedule, methodology used during teaching, etc. were discussed in detail. All the students of class X and XII studying in Government and private schools were met separately and tried to understand the thinking of the students and discussed on their career goals, subjects, strength and weakness to make students prepare for the upcoming board examinations. The Team first analyzed the performance of the students based on the results obtained in the previous examinations and tried to identify the weaker areas. Based on the thorough study of the previous year examination papers for each subjects that requires attention was performed, questions / topics were shortlisted and circulated among the students so as to prepare them for mock test. The whole exercise was done in coordination with the school teachers so that there is no confusion among students. The Class Xth and XIIth Chhattisgarh board examination result declared recently shows Raikheda Government High School as one of best performing school in Tilda Block with highest pass percentage of 97%. Under Science stream Raikheda High School is one of best performing school in Tilda block.
In the next phase of the project team conducted counseling sessions in which students from villages Raikheda, Chhatod, Chicholi and Bhatapara participated and got benefited.
