Manipur CM Ibobi Singh to resign by tomorrow
Imphal, March 13: Manipur Chief Minister Ibobi Singh has said he would resign by tomorrow to facilitate the process of government formation in the state. The just concluded assembly elections threw up a hung verdict.
Governor Najma Heptullah had earlier said she could start the process of government formation once the incumbent chief minister resigned. Both BJP and the Congress have staked claim to form the government.
Ibobi Singh, however, has been arguing that with the Congress emerging as the single largest party, he should be given the first opportunity to form the government.

Biren Singh, a national level footballer-turned-journalist-turned- politician was elected for the first time in 2002 as a candidate of Democratic Revolutionary Peoples Party. He later joined the Congress and on the eve of elections joined BJP.
Congress had won 28 seats, followed by BJP 21. The National People’s Party, NPP, and the Naga People’s Front, NPF have won four seats each, while the Lok Janshakti Party, LJP and the Trinamool Congress have bagged one each.
