Jaitley takes additional charge of Defence Ministry

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley took additional charge of Defence Ministry today after Manohar Parrikar resigned to take on the new role of Goa Chief Minister. President Pranab Mukherjee yesterday accepted the resignation of Parrikar as Defence Minister.
A Communique issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan said, Mr Jaitley will hold additional charge of the Defence Ministry. Manohar Parrikar submitted his resignation after BJP staked claim to form an alliance government in Goa. This is the second time that Jaitley is holding the additional portfolio of Defence Ministry during the present NDA government. He was incharge of the ministry earlier from 26th May to 9th November in 2014.
