Sania Mirza, Barbora Strycova bow out of Indian Wells Masters

California, March 15: In Tennis, Sania Mirza and her Czech teammate Barbora Strycova have bowed out of the Indian Wells Masters in California. The fourth-seeded Indo-Czech pair lost to the team of Swiss Martina Hingis and Yung-jan Chan of Chinese Taipei, in straight sets, 4-6, 4-6. With the defeat, India’s campaign in the tournament has come to an end.

In the Men’s Singles, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have set up a pre-quarterfinal clash, after winning their respective third round matches. Both players had recently met in the Australian Open Final, with Federer getting the better of Nadal in a five-setter to bag his record 18th Grand Slam Men’s Singles trophy.

World number two Novak Djokovic and Kei Nishikori were also among those who entered the Round-of-16.

In the Women’s Singles, Venus Williams, Garbine Muguruza, Angelique Kerber and Svetlana Kuznetsova made it to the quarter-finals.
