Car bomb hits army base in Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, a suicide car bomb detonated near an army base in the eastern province of Khost today, killing one soldier and wounding several others.
Sabari District chief, Akbar Zadran, said the Army repelled the attack and 4 gunmen were killed after an hour-long gun battle.The blast damaged several shops, homes and a school.
In a statement, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack and said it had caused heavy casualties.
