Lucknow, March 18: In Uttar Pradesh five times MP from Gorakhpur Yogi Aditya Nath will be new Chief Minister of the state. His name was unanimously decided as leader of the state legislature party in the meeting of newly elected MLAs held at Lok Bhawan a short while ago.

He would take oath of office and secrecy on Sunday evening. Both the central observers of the party, senior party leader and Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and national general secretary Bhupender Yadav were present at the meeting.

Yogi Aditya Nath was elected to the Lok Sabha first time in 1998 from Gorakhpur in the age of 26 years. His real name is Ajay Singh Bisht and he is mathematics graduate from Garhwal University. Born in 1972 in a village in Uttarakhand, he belongs to famous religious centre Goraksh Nath math based at Gorakhpur.

UP BJP President Keshav Prasad Maurya and Party`s national vice president Dinesh Sharma will be Dy CM in new cabinet. Bharatiya Janata Party-lead new Cabinet will sworn in tomorrow. Swearing-in function will be held at Kanshiram memorial ground in the afternoon.

Announcing the decision of Yogi’s election, senior BJP leader and Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said that this was a watershed moment for BJP and it has become a common man’s party. He said, UP message is very clear and it is that country wants to move with Prime Minister Modi. He said that mandate is for development, and against corruption and black money. This mandate is against caste politics, religious politics and vote bank politics, he said, noting that all the five regions in UP and all communities had overwhelmingly voted for the party.

Manoj Sinha, Minister of state for telecommunication was being seen as the face of Chief Minister along with Rajnath Singh. But during the meeting of the elected MLAs on Saturday morning Yogi Adityanath was called to New Delhi. During afternoon hours Yogi Adityanath and Keshav Prasad Maurya reached Lucknow by special plan by the time Central party leadership message had gone viral that Yogi would be the next Chief.

Since the election, BJP has been relying on the OBC card, non-Yadav OBC and non-Jatav-Dalit votes and the victory was seen as per this combination. Therefore, the political experts were also relying to be an OBC leader to be next Chief Minister.

As per party sources, Rajnath Singh was placed in first and efforts were on to woo him but he denied. After he was out of race, for last two days, Ghazipur MP Manoj Sinha’s name was running in top. During Varanasi trip the photographs of Manoj Sinha’s visit to Kashi Vishwanath and Bhairav temples were being seen as key possibility but after return of Yogi Adityanath, from New Delhi every scenario changed.
