Jaat stir: Section 144 imposed, internet services suspended in Haryana
Chandigarh, March 19: In Haryana, prohibitory orders under Section 144 have been imposed and internet services suspended in many sensitive districts in the wake of Jaat agitators’ plan to gherao Parliament tomorrow.
The districts include Ambala, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri and Hisar. Delhi Police has also decided to impose prohibitory orders in the national capital ahead of the proposed march. Entry of people to Lutyens’ Delhi will be restricted from 11 tonight. Metro rail services will not be available at all stations outside Delhi-NCR from 11:30 tonight till further orders.
CBSE has also issued an advisory for Class 10th and 12th students appearing in exam in Delhi in light of the agitation. It has advised students to take necessary measures to reach the examination centres well before the scheduled time to avoid any inconvenience. As per reports Jaats have been sitting on dharna in various parts of Haryana since January 29th.
Metro rail services will not be available
Metro rail services will not be available at all stations outside Delhi-NCR from 11:30 PM today till further orders. The services will be affected on Guru Dronacharya to Huda City Centre, Kaushambi to Vaishali, Noida Sector 15 to Noida City Centre and Sarai to Escorts Mujesar.
The decision was taken by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Delhi Police in view of tomorrow’s proposed JAT agitation for reservation in education and employment.
Twelve stations in Central Delhi will also be shut from 8 PM today till further orders. The affected stations in Delhi include Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Janpath, Pragati Maidan and Shivaji stadium.
However, interchange facilities will be available at all intersections. A Metro official said, the services will resume only after getting clearance from the Police.
