In the recent T20I match against the West Indies, the notable Indian Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal showcased his brilliant skills alongside Kuldeep Yadav. Chahal’s magic with the ball was on display as he took a vital wicket in the first delivery itself.
In the run-up to the second T20I match between India and the West Indies, Chahal shared his thoughts on his experiences playing under different leaders in the Indian cricket team, at the pre-match press conference.
Chahal, who started his T20I career under MS Dhoni, expressed his admiration for the guidance and freedom provided by former skipper and acknowledged the impact of MSD’s captaincy on his career. He was noted saying, “I see it this way – You have four brothers in your family. Badey bhai they Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni – the eldest brother), then came Virat, Rohit and now Hardik. The equation remains the same. Nothing changes. On the ground, everyone wants their team to win. He gives us freedom as a bowler. The same freedom we used to receive, Hardik is giving us now. We (bowlers) can set our own field,” Chahal said at the pre-match press conference.
Chahal also praised his current Skipper Hardik Pandya and said that he is India’s go-to bowler in limited-overs matches, as he contributes significantly. Even if the initial plan doesn’t go as expected, Pandya offers his inputs. “Within Team India, bowlers always have the captain’s support and freedom,” Chahal added.
Chahal also acknowledged the teamwork and understanding shared between Pandya and other experienced players like Dhoni, Kohli, and Rohit. As Pandya takes on the role of India’s limited-overs vice-captain, he continues the tradition of empowering bowlers to contribute strategically. As the series unfolds, fans eagerly anticipate Chahal’s contributions under Pandya’s captaincy.
