Artist Shubh’s India Tour cancelled amid alleged Khalistan support

Rapper Shubh’s India tour, known as the “Still Rollin India Tour,” has been canceled by BookMyShow due to alleged support for ‘Khalistan.’

The Canada-based Punjabi singer and rapper, Shubhneet Singh, faced criticism for his purported association with the Khalistan movement. BookMyShow, through a statement on X (formerly Twitter), confirmed the tour’s cancellation and assured ticket holders of a full refund, which will be processed within 7-10 working days.

The company’s statement read, “In light of concerns surrounding singer Shubhneet Singh’s alleged support for Khalistan, we regret to inform you that the Still Rollin Tour for India has been canceled. We are committed to refunding the full ticket amount to all customers who had purchased tickets for the event. Refunds will be credited to the original transaction source within 7-10 working days.”

boAt Electronics, had earlier officially retracted its sponsorship of the upcoming India tour. This decision, announced on September 19, has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry and is rooted in the controversy surrounding Shubh’s alleged support for the Khalistan movement, which has strained diplomatic relations between Canada and India.

Originally scheduled to take place aboard Cordelia Cruises in Mumbai from September 23 to 25, Shubh’s concerts have been cancelled amid the whole controversy going on. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently accused India of involvement in the killing of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in the Canadian province of British Columbia.

boAt’s withdrawal of sponsorship is primarily linked to Shubh’s controversial actions earlier this year when he posted a distorted map of India on social media as a sign of solidarity with Khalistani separatists. In a statement released on their official social media handles, boAt reaffirmed its strong Indian identity and distanced itself from any association with the Khalistan issue.

Tajinder Singh Tiwana, President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), voiced strong opposition to Shubh’s performance, stating, “There is no space for Khalistanis who are the enemy of the integrity and unity of India. We won’t allow Canadian singer Shubh to perform on the revered land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mumbai. If appropriate action is not taken, the organizers will have to face our opposition.”

The controversy surrounding Shubh’s support for Khalistani elements has also affected his popularity among Indian celebrities. Virat Kohli, former captain of the Indian cricket team, recently unfollowed Shubh on Instagram, despite previously referring to the 26-year-old artist as his “favorite artist.”
