Chandrayaan-3 has Successfully Entered the Moon’s Orbit

The Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft has successfully entered the lunar orbit, marking a significant milestone for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). This feat was accomplished through a careful operation when Chandrayaan-3 was closest to the Moon.

The successful Lunar Orbit Injection (LOI) manoeuvre, overseen by ISRO’s experts in Bengaluru, showcased their adeptness in steering space missions. As the spacecraft progresses on its lunar path, the next step involves adjusting its orbit. This operation is slated for Sunday at approximately 11 pm (IST), as shared by ISRO.

ISRO expressed its enthusiasm in a tweet that resonated with the spacecraft’s journey: “Chandrayaan-3 Mission: ‘MOX, ISTRAC, this is Chandrayaan-3. I am feeling lunar gravity 🌖‘ The insertion into lunar orbit was confirmed by a retro-burning at the perilune, directed from the Mission Operations Complex (MOX), ISTRAC, Bengaluru. The next task, involving orbit reduction, is set for August 6, 2023, around 11 pm IST.”

Amidst the updates, ISRO’s assurance of the spacecraft’s good health adds to the excitement. The mission is progressively moving forward, with plans for a soft landing on the Moon’s surface scheduled for August 23, 2023.
