After the campaign was halted due to local protests, Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta wrote to the SDMC Commissioner. According to BJP leader Kapil Mishra, the rule of law is not being followed in places like Shaheen Bagh.

The Supreme Court refused to hear the CPI against the demolition of structures in the region, instead directing the petitioner to the Delhi High Court. The Supreme Court stated that it cannot interfere in any dispute and that there must be a legal breach for it to intervene. Hundreds of people, including women, rallied against the anti-encroachment campaign. Bulldozers rolled into the region, causing traffic jams at Shaheen Bagh, Kalindi Kunj, Jaitpur, Sarita Vihar, and Mathura Road, among other areas, as demonstrations ensued.
