Ajinkya Rahane has stated that he is still confident in his abilities and has discussed his captaincy responsibilities in the Australia series.
When India defeated Australia in January 2021, Ajinkya Rahane became a cult hero. There were calls for him to be named India’s new test captain. In February 2022, he is still looking for a place in the Indian squad. He is yet to hit another century after a memorable century at the MCG.
He struggled in the England tour, and he also struggled in the home series against New Zealand. Rahane hasn’t batted badly, but he has been unlucky on occasion.
Ajinkya Rahane was dropped as the Indian team’s vice-captain during the South African tour. He played well in the first test, but his tour was not particularly successful.
Ajinkya Rahane remains confidence in his abilities
Rahane claimed on the show Backstage with Boria that he still has a lot of cricket left in him. He stated that he believes in his abilities and that he can make a comeback.
“I just smile when people says my career is finished and people who know the Sport don’t talk like that,” Rahane said.
“People and everyone knows my contribution in red ball Cricket and people who love the Sport will talk sensibly.”
“I am confident with my ability, I am batting well and I still believe I have good cricket left with me”.
He was lauded by all a year ago for his heroics as captain in Australia. People now want him to leave the team. What is @ajinkyarahane88’s reaction to it? Is he confident that he still has cricket left in him? What is the significance of the Ranji Trophy? Today on #BackstageWithBoria, Ajinkya tells it all.

During the conversation, Ajinkya Rahane also made a contentious remark. He said that credit for his decisions in Australia was given to someone else. In Australia, India lost the first game by a large margin in Adelaide, but they went on to win the series. The rest of the games were captained by Ajinkya Rahane. He stated that he was intent on winning the series.
“I know what I did in the Australia series, and it’s not in my nature to take credit for it,” Rahane remarked.
Ajinkya Rahane can play for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy, despite speculations that he will not be selected for the Indian test team against Sri Lanka.
