Karan Johar to return with Koffee With Karan 7 on this OTT platform, On Wednesday, filmmaker Karan Johar announced that the seventh season of Koffee with Karan will be streamed directly on Disney+ Hotstar rather than aired on television. The filmmaker, who also hosts the popular celebrity talk show, confirmed the news on Twitter, just hours after sending out a deceptive tweet announcing the show’s cancellation.
“Koffee with Karan will not be returning…on TV! Because every great story needs a good twist, I’m delighted to announce that Season 7 of ‘Koffee With Karan’ will stream exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar,” the 49-year-old filmmaker wrote in a statement on his social media handles. Johar further said the biggest movie stars from across India will return to the “couch to spill the beans while drinking some koffee”.
The show, which first aired on Star World in 2004, lasted six seasons on television before ending in 2019. Earlier in the day, the filmmaker released a statement claiming that the show will be cancelled after six seasons, but it turned out to be a publicity stunt.
After actor Sushant Singh Rajput died two years ago, the Koffee With Karan received a lot of backlash. The audience slammed the performance, criticizing the Rapid Fire round and accusing it of harassing the performer.
When it was announced that the programme would return for Season 7, it was once again trending on social media.
As previously reported, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, or Janvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan, might be the show’s first guests.
According to sources, South celebrity Yash will appear on the show and engage with Karan. Yash will be appearing on the show for the very first time. The cast of Baahubali, The Beginning have previously graced the show.
Yash is a guy of few words, so seeing him on a controversial show like Koffee With Karan will be interesting.
The show will start filming in the second week of May and will premiere in mid-June 2022.
