M Geetha, an IAS officer from the Chhattisgarh cadre and a 1997 batch member, passed away this evening in New Delhi.

Before passing away at roughly 7.30 p.m. tonight, the Mason Fellow, Secretary for the Chhattisgarh government, and Harvard Kennedy School graduate fought for life for more than two and a half months.

She was posted to the nation’s capital after being appointed as the Government of India’s Joint Secretary, when she had a brain attack.

M. Geetha was admitted to the hospital and at first benefited from the therapy. Her illness later got worse. Her life support system was activated.

Her education includes a doctorate in anthropology, cultural studies, critical theory, and analysis from the University of Hyderabad, and she earned her MBA at Harvard University.

She worked in public service for 16 years, in Madhya Pradesh, and for 5 years, in Chhattisgarh. 14 years of professional public service. For seven and a half years, district collector. supervised the state’s departments of land registration, women’s and children’s development, public health, sanitation, and public health engineering.
