An audio message purportedly from Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, the US-based founder of the banned Sikh for Justice (SFJ), went viral a day after the Punjab Police’s Intelligence Wing HQ was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade. In it, he is heard warning Himachal CM Jai Ram Thakur that the attack in Mohali could have been on the Shimla Police headquarters. Pannu is also accused of placing ‘Khalistani flags’ on the gates of the Assembly building in Dharamshala, according to the audio message.

Gurpatwant Singh Pannu is a law graduate from Panjab University and hails from Khankot hamlet on the outskirts of Amritsar. Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, one of Mahinder Singh’s three children and a former employee of the Punjab State Agricultural Marketing Board, is now a lawyer in the United States.
