In a much-awaited moment for fans, Rajinikanth has returned to the silver screen with the highly anticipated film ‘Jailer’. Directed by Nelson Dilip Kumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, the movie has already created a buzz with an impressive pre-booking record across India.
Rajinikanth, fondly known as “Thalaivar,” has graced over 900 theaters across Tamil Nadu with ‘Jailer’. The star-studded cast also includes Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vinayakan, and Yogi Babu, alongside Rajini. The film’s music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
Even before its release, ‘Jailer’ has managed to secure a remarkable pre-booking total of Rs 14.18 crore in India. The Tamil version of the film alone has contributed Rs 12.82 crore through the sale of 5,91,221 tickets, while the Telugu variant added Rs 1.35 crore from the advance bookings of 77,554 tickets. This brings the total ticket sales to an impressive 6,68,775.
The excitement surrounding the movie reached such heights that offices in Chennai and Bengaluru decided to declare a holiday for employees on the film’s release day, August 10. One netizen aptly noted, “Other actors release their movies during holidays. Rajinikanth releases a movie and it becomes a holiday.”
Today, ‘Jailer’ was released on over 4,000 screens worldwide, including 800 in Tamil Nadu, for its First Day First Show.
The early reviews are already generating excitement, with some proclaiming it to have “the best climax in the history of Indian cinema.”
