The SC urged the Varanasi District Magistrate on Tuesday to protect the spot where the ‘shivling‘ was discovered without interfering with Muslims’ ability to enter and worship. The case will be heard again in court on May 19.

A court in Varanasi removed advocate-Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra from his position on Tuesday. Mishra was in charge of shooting the Kashi Vishwanath temple-Gyanvapi mosque complex and doing the survey.

The SC also allowed a two-day extension for the committee’s survey report submission.

The Supreme Court was hearing a petition from the Committee of Management of Anjuman Intezamia Masjid in Varanasi, which was disputing a videography survey ordered by a lower court at the complex’s Maa Shringar Gauri Sthal.

The Muslim organization claims that it violates the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act 1991. According to the Bar and Bench, the Hindu Sena President has filed an intervention in the Supreme Court, asking for the appeal to be dismissed.
