On Friday, BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly hosted Union Home Minister Amit Shah for dinner at his Kolkata home. Amit Shah attended the Ministry of Culture’s ‘Mukti-matrika’  cultural programme at Kolkata’s Victoria Memorial Hall before proceeding to Sourav Ganguly’s house. Dona Ganguly, Sourav Ganguly’s wife, and her troupe, Diksha Manjari, performed a dance during the show.

Home Minister Amit Shah, who is in Kolkata for a visit, had supper tonight with Indian cricket board president Sourav Ganguly. The visit was described as a courtesy call because the former cricketer’s colleague, Union Minister Jay Shah, serves as Honorary Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, or BCCI.

In a white SUV flanked by bodyguards, the Home Minister arrived at Ganguly’s house. A large crowd had gathered outside on the small route to watch Amit Shah, who sat in the front seat and gave a namaste sign to the onlookers.

Later, Shah was spotted enjoying supper with Ganguly and his family at the dining table.

Nothing political should be read into the dinner discussion, Ganguly, 49, told reporters. He claims to have known Amit Shah for more than a decade and has met with him multiple times.

“We have a lot to discuss. He’s someone I’ve known since 2008. We used to meet when I used to play, but not as frequently as when I was on tour  “I collaborate with his son. It’s a long-standing connection ” Said  Ganguly.

Sourav Ganguly had mentioned before Amit Shah’s visit to his house that he had arranged a vegetarian spread for him.

“Since 2008, I’ve known him (Shah). I collaborate with his son. He’ll be staying with us and eating dinner with us. He only eats vegetables, thus it will be vegetarian food “Ganguly stated.

Amit Shah was joined to Sourav Ganguly’s house for supper by BJP leaders Suvendu Adhikari and Amit Malviya, who were on a two-day visit to West Bengal.

According to sources, Ganguly’s family made Rice, Roti, Luchi, Begun Bhaja, Shahi Paneer, Dal Makhani, Dum Aloo, Veg Cutlet, kaju Barfi, Mishti Doi, and Rasgulla for the Home Minister.
