Suns take Game 1 vs. Mavericks, 121-114, Luka Doncic scored 45 points, but the Suns maintained a large lead throughout the game. The game did not end up being as close as the final scores indicated. The Phoenix  started off hot, shooting at a 60 percent clip for 3.5 quarters and maintaining a large lead against the Dallas Mavericks throughout the game. The Suns coasted to a 121-114 victory by riding out the fourth quarter despite some bad shooting after taking a 21-point lead with roughly 8 minutes left in the game.

Luka Doncic had a monster game with 45 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists, and the Mavericks remained playing hard the entire game. Around Luka, however, no one else really stood up for the Mavs. This happened in the fourth quarter, giving the Suns a 21-point lead.

As the Suns starters had lost their mojo, the Mavericks did not give up and brought the game closer.

They returned with an eight-minute lead and a 16-point lead, but the Mavericks trimmed the lead to six points. They had it down to 5 in the final seconds.

Even still, no one on the court expected the Mavericks to win this game. The Mavericks, too. Luka Doncic played 45 of the 48 minutes and had a 45/12/8 stat line.

Devin Booker’s stats were 23/9/8. Chris Paul’s stats were 19/5/3. Deandre Ayton finished with a score of 25/8. Six Suns scored in double figures, with Cam Payne barely missing out on a nine-point performance.
