MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, today boarded a state-run Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus and engaged with passengers before making a number of public welfare announcements in the state Assembly to commemorate the first anniversary of his government. He addressed to the ladies passengers on bus number 29-C in Chennai’s Radhakrishnan Salai Road and inquired about the free travel provision for them.

He made a number of announcements before the Tamil Nadu Assembly to honour the first year anniversary, including giving breakfast for kids in government schools and another targeted at assuring nutrition.

The ruling DMK made a pre-poll pledge of free bus travel for women ahead of the state’s Assembly elections in April 2021.

Following his government’s one-year term in office, MK Stalin paid floral tributes to late DMK founder CN Annadurai and his father, former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, at the Marina in Chennai.

In his announcement, he stated that kids in grades I through V will receive a nutritious breakfast on all working days. He also mentioned the government’s accomplishments in many industries during the last year. He reaffirmed the state’s ‘Dravidian Model’ of development, claiming that it was all-encompassing.

He also announced the establishment of new urban medical institutions to better serve people’s medical needs.

Stalin led his party-led alliance to an impressive victory over arch rival AIADMK in the 2021 Assembly elections, which also marked his first spell as chief minister after a decade in opposition. He previously served as Deputy Chief Minister in the Karunanidhi-led DMK administration from 2006 to 2011.
