Tata Motors electric vehicle launch highlights, Tata Motors introduced the idea for its new electric SUV Curvv on Wednesday, with a delivery date set for the next two years. The coupe-styled car will be available in multiple body options and will have a verified range of 400-500 kilometres per charge.
Tata Motors sells Nexon and Tigor EV in India, where it is now the market leader with over 80% market share. Punch and Safari are two other SUVs in the company’s lineup.
Unlike the two current SUVs, which were first introduced as ICE vehicles before being converted to EVs, the Curvv SUV will be introduced as an electric vehicle first, with petrol and diesel engines coming later.
Tata Motors had previously stated that in the next five years, it plans to produce roughly ten new electric vehicle models. It will spend INR 15,000 crore on this.
The company also recently received the first tranche of a 3500 crore investment from private equity firm TPG Rise for its EV division.
