Anders Skaruup Rasmussen and Frederik Sogaard of Denmark had earlier won the fourth match of the Thomas Cup semi-final tie at the Impact Arena in Thailand.
To even the match at 2-2, the Danish pair defeated the Indian pair of Vishnuvardhan Panjala and Krishna Garaga 21-14, 21-13. This comes after Kidambi Srikanth gave India a 2-1 lead over Denmark in the Thomas Cup semi-final match at Thailand’s Impact Arena.
Anders Antonsen was defeated by Srikanth 21-18, 12-21, 21-16 to put India in the lead.
Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy had earlier levelled the ongoing Thomas Cup semi-final encounter against Denmark by defeating Kim Astrup and Mathias Christiansen in a thriller.
The Indian duo lost two match points in the second set, forcing a deciding, after winning the opening set 21-18. Satwik and Chirag, on the other hand, kept their cool in the third set to bring India even.
Viktor Axelsen defeated Lakshya Sen in straight games in the first match, 21-13, 21-13, to give Denmark a good start in the tie.
The Indian men’s team made history as players such as HS Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth, and Satwik-Chirag led the team to their first semi-final in 43 years, ensuring India’s first medal at the Thomas Cup.
After a 2-2 stalemate in the quarterfinals versus Malaysia, HS Prannnoy won the deciding match, defeating Leong Jun Hao in straight games, while the Indian men’s team ran onto the court to celebrate their historic achievement.
Denmark, on the other hand, had to overcome a formidable opponent in South Korea.
