Today is not a Women’s Day

Must Read

Today is not a Women’s Day, When we look around, what do we see? I say, we see nature as our mother, we praise and pray to goddesses, we see people who come to existence because of women. Everything around us is in one way or the other blessed by a woman.

Within her is the power to create, nurture life, transform and grow. She’s strong, determined, patient, she endures but keeps her head held high. SHE is a WOMAN.

It starts from an early age, the process of becoming a woman. From getting your first periods, exploring the growing phases of life, making mistakes and learning from them, achieving the goals, realising the peaks and overcoming the valleys, giving birth, building a home and so much more that can merely be put into words but can be most willingly be expressed in the form of respect and gratitude.

As a daughter, a woman is traditionally responsible for taking care of her parents and making them proud. As a part of the workforce, she helps to build an inspiring work culture by bringing in healthy competition, fostering teamwork, bonding and further promoting growth. As a wife, she is expected to equally partake responsibilities, support and serve her husband, motivate him and go hand in hand through the walks of life. As a mother, she has to take care of the children, their needs, including education and be the umbrella the kids look for during adolescence and beyond. All of this still does not sum up for what it takes to be a Women.

Today we would all commemorate the women of our lives, as today we celebrate the International Women’s Day in the honour of all the confident, liberal, strong and brave Women who make us proud and never fail to inspire us.

The Women’s Day theme for 2022 is- “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”

The Women’s Day theme for 2022 is- “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”. Sustainable development relies on ending discrimination towards women and providing equal access to education and opportunities for employment. Women and girls, everywhere, must have equal rights and opportunity, and be able to live free of violence and discrimination. Women’s equality and empowerment is one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, but also integral to all dimensions of inclusive and sustainable development. Empowering women is essential to the health and social development of families, communities and countries.

Women are the quintessential part of the society and our lives, it’s also our duty to support them, respect their ambitions, assure their rights because when women are living safe, fulfilled and productive lives, they can reach their full potential by contributing their skills to the workforce and balancing their children and family life.

Many women go through domestic violence, assault, harassment at workplace and otherwise but we think that celebrating them on a date would fix it all. The defaults are so deeply rooted in the system that the abhorring acts go unaddressed and women fail to receive that equality that we so freely preach about.

It takes more than just roses and chocolates, gifts and treats, tweets and posts to make a women feel celebrated and secure. Before equality let’s start with the act of respect towards the real architects of our society.

So, not just on this International women’s day but every day, let us cherish the Women who make us who we are with love, respect and gratitude. For an eternity won’t suffice for the same.
