Elvish Yadav, the Bigg Boss OTT winner, was detained in the snake venom-rave party case after being questioned by Noida police. Yadav has now been sentenced to 14 days in judicial custody.
Last year, he and five people were charged with violating the Wildlife Act by arranging for the use of snake venom as a recreational stimulant at rave parties.
On November 3, last year, the police raided a banquet venue in Noida’s sector 51, arresting five persons, four of whom were snake charmers, and recovering nine snakes and poison. Aside from rave gatherings, Elvish Yadav allegedly utilized snakes for video shooting.The popular YouTuber has several videos featuring snakes on his channel.
After witnessing footage of Elvish Yadav, the animal rights group People For Animals, led by BJP leader Maneka Gandhi, phoned him up while concealing its name and identity. They requested him to deliver snakes and venom. The 26-year-old allegedly gave them the phone contact of someone named Rahul, who invited them to the Sector 51 feast.
The PFA crew discovered four snake charmers – Jaikaran, Titunath, Narayan, and Ravinath – along with nine snakes, including five cobras, and 20 ml of snake poison. A team from the Noida Police and Forest Department was dispatched shortly after, and everyone was detained.
Elvish Yadav had previously been questioned by authorities and has denied any participation in the case. “Baseless, fake and not even 1 per cent true,” he went on to say. Police had previously stated that he was not present at the party hall and that they were investigating his involvement in the entire matter. However, Maneka Gandhi accused Elvish Yadav of unlawfully peddling snake venom and demanded his immediate arrest. “He has escaped for the time being, but his arrest is almost certain, Maneka Gandhi.
