Former UK Minister Rishi Sunak Bids To Replace PM Boris Johnson, Rishi Sunak, a valued cabinet member of former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, has abandoned his bid to become the Tories’ and Britain’s next leader.
“I’m standing to be the next leader of the Conservative Party and your Prime Minister. Let’s restore trust, rebuild the economy and reunite the country,” Sunak, the son-in-law of Infosys founder Narayan Murthy, tweeted with the hashtag ‘Ready4Rishi’.
In the post, a video that is about three minutes long summarizes his life, beginning with how his parents fought to find success, how they met, how they got married, and how the UK gave “millions the prospect of a better future.”
“Someone has to grip this moment and make the right decisions. That’s why I am standing to be the next leader of the Conservative Party and your Prime Minister,” the 42-year-old Indian-origin MP from Richmond announced.
In 2020, Sunak created history when he was named Chancellor of the Exchequer, the most significant position in the UK Cabinet. As an unprecedented pandemic swept the nation and the globe, the minister’s economic package to help firms and employees became increasingly well-liked.
