In a recent ranking by Cabin Crew HQ, a popular blog for flight attendants and airline crew, India’s very own Indira Gandhi International Airport, also known as IGI Airport, has secured the 7th position on the list of the world’s best airports for the year 2023.
Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport Terminal 2 also made its mark by securing the 21st position in the same prestigious list.
The ranking took into consideration various factors, including parking costs, passenger counts, average on-time flight percentages, and the availability of shops and restaurants.
The data used for this ranking was sourced from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, along with The Official Aviation Guide of the Airways. Each airport was assigned a score out of 100 based on these factors.
At the top of the list, Japan’s Tokyo International Airport, commonly known as Haneda Airport, claimed the number one spot with an impressive score of 80. This was attributed to its consistently high on-time flight average of approximately 88% and an abundance of dining and shopping options for travellers.
The United States also made a notable presence in the top 10 of the list. Georgia’s Harts field-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which boasts the highest passenger count globally, secured the second spot with a score of 75.18. Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport took the third position with a score of 71.04 and an on-time flight average of 77.2%.
Additionally, two airports from Texas, namely Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport, claimed the fifth and sixth positions, respectively. Colorado’s Denver International Airport occupied the eighth spot, while North Carolina’s Charlotte Douglas International Airport rounded out the top tier of the rankings.
This dual recognition underscores India’s growing prominence in the global aviation sector, offering passengers world-class experiences as they arrive and depart from these prominent airports. These rankings are a testament to the continuous efforts and improvements made by the airport authorities to enhance travellers’ experiences and maintain high standards of service.
