Mamata Banerjee finally sacks minister Partha Chatterjee

Partha Chatterjee, a senior in the Trinamool Congress who was detained by the ED in connection with the West Bengal teacher recruitment scandal, was removed from Mamata Banerjee cabinet on Thursday.

Chatterjee was relieved of his duties as minister-in-charge of industry, commerce and enterprises, information technology and electronics, legislative affairs and public businesses, and industrial rehabilitation, according to a notification from the chief secretary, Harikrishna Dwivedi. The chief minister will now oversee the departments.

Banerjee was originally hesitant to remove Chatterjee from the cabinet, according to TMC sources. But after finding cash stashes in his assistant Arpita Mukherjee’s apartment in Belgharia, a neighbourhood outside of Kolkata, the party leadership decided to fire Chatterjee right away, they claimed. He was anticipated to be kicked out of the party in a meeting of the disciplinary committee that TMC summoned.

Abhishek Banerjee, the TMC’s national general secretary, announced that Chatterjee had also been suspended from the party and had been removed from all of his party positions. Chatterjee will continue to be barred from the party while the scheme is being investigated.

As said by Abhishek. After a meeting of the party’s disciplinary committee, Abhishek underlined that Chatterjee would only be granted access to TMC if the investigation is unambiguously favourable to him.

On July 22, the Enforcement Directorate conducted a home invasion and seized the former minister of education. Additionally, the authorities searched Mukherjee’s home and found more than Rs 20 crore there. After 26 hours of questioning, the agency arrested Chatterjee the next morning. He is currently being held by the ED.
