The 100th edition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat’ was broadcast today. Beginning the 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat, he stated that, like Vijayadashmi, Mann Ki Baat has become a celebration of Indian goodness, optimism, positivity, and people’s participation. It had first aired in October of 2014. He had previously stated on Twitter, “This has been a truly special journey, in which we have celebrated the collective spirit of the people of India and highlighted inspiring life journeys.”
Yoga, women-led initiatives, youth, and cleanliness were among the most discussed issues over the last eight and a half years. According to the transcripts of the episodes, the sacrifices and courage of Indian warriors, cultural legacy, the stories of Padma winners, science and the environment, and khadi have all been discussed at length on multiple occasions.
The issues handled during the Prime Minister’s first and second terms differ significantly. While the episodes aired between 2014 and 2019 were more general and motivational in nature, the subsequent episodes showcased a variety of government policies and initiatives. Almost all episodes contained a capsule on health-related concerns, such as following Covid-appropriate behaviours, vaccines, lockdowns, and subsequent reopening, during the two years of Covid-19 epidemic and lockdowns — 2020 and 2021.
