PM Modi inaugurates New Parliament building

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today dedicated the new parliament building and placed an ancient sceptre known as the ‘Sengol’ near the Lok Sabha Speaker’s chair. The Prime Minister stated for the first time in the building that the new Parliament is a temple of democracy. On this day, a puja and a multi-faith prayer were organized. He also unveiled a plaque commemorating the new structure. The occasion was attended by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Adheenam seers. The seers presented the ‘Sengol’ to Prime Minister Modi, who carried it into the new Parliament building and installed it.

Following the completion of the new Parliament building, the attention will shift to the construction of the Vice President Enclave, Common Central Secretariat buildings, Defence Enclave, MPs’ chambers and the Prime Minister’s new apartment and office.

The new parliament building is the second finished project. The first was the revitalization of Central Vista Avenue, which ran from Vijay Chowk to India Gate. The stretch of road that was previously known as Rajpath has been renamed Kartavya Path.

The new Parliament building, which was opened on Sunday, is part of the plan for the reconstruction of the Central Vista, the nation’s power corridor. The Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry’s Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has been performing projects under the redevelopment plan.

The new Parliament building, according to Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar, would contribute to a “new India” and become a symbol of the country’s growth story.

On Saturday night, Hindi cinema actors shared a photo of the new Parliament House on Twitter, expressing their delight at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration.
