WhatsApp is enhancing its group chat experience with a fresh addition called Group Voice Chats. This new feature takes inspiration from Clubhouse, Discord, and Twitter Spaces, making chatting with friends even more convenient.
Ever find yourself wanting to chat with your group without making a full-blown call? That’s where Group Voice Chats step in. They work similar to Clubhouse and Discord, allowing you to easily jump in and out of voice conversations whenever you’d like. No more bothering everyone with ringing phones!
Currently, this feature is in testing with some users on WhatsApp’s beta version for Android 2.23.16.19. When you start a voice chat, your group gets a subtle notification instead of a loud ring. And guess what? You can join without needing an invite, just like on Clubhouse and Discord.
What’s even cooler is that these voice chats remain active for an hour after everyone leaves, making it simple to rejoin. You’ll spot a wave button to connect to the chat, and it’s not like those large, annoying call notifications that cover your whole screen.
At the moment, you can chat with up to 32 friends at once, though this might change later. And here’s the best part: it’s all private and secure, just like your other WhatsApp messages.
So, even though it’s still in testing, this new feature promises a fun and engaging experience. If you’re using WhatsApp’s beta version, you can give it a try. For the rest, it’ll likely arrive for you soon enough!
