7 Month Pregnant Woman Killed for Dowry in Bihar

In a tragic incident in Bihar’s Purnia district, a 30-year-old pregnant woman named Angoori Begum was allegedly killed by her in-laws due to a dowry dispute. Angoori, who was seven months pregnant and already a mother of four, was found dead at her in-laws’ house in Bela Prasadi Bhawanipur.

The police revealed that Angoori’s in-laws demanded a refrigerator as part of the dowry, which her family couldn’t provide. This led to a violent confrontation, resulting in her untimely death. The police are investigating the matter, but the in-laws are reported to have fled.

Angoori’s body was taken for an autopsy, which confirmed her pregnancy and revealed signs of fatal physical assault. Sadly, this wasn’t her first experience with abuse, as her brother disclosed that she had been previously mistreated by her husband and in-laws.

This distressing incident sheds light on the persistent issue of dowry-related violence in India and underscores the need for societal change and legal action against such practices.
