In a stunning turn of events, one of the masterminds behind the Mahadev betting app scam, Sourabh Chandrakar, has come under the spotlight for his extravagant Rs 200 crore wedding in the UAE.
Lavish UAE Wedding Under Scrutiny
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is currently probing money laundering allegations linked to the Mahadev Online Book app, which is suspected to involve a staggering sum of Rs 5,000 crore. In the midst of this investigation, Chandrakar’s lavish wedding has come into focus. The wedding took place in February 2023 in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, and reportedly cost Rs 200 crore. Private jets were used to transport guests from Nagpur, and a remarkable Rs 42 crore was spent solely on hotels, all of which were paid for in cash.
Star-Studded Bollywood Affair
Adding to the grandeur were the Bollywood celebrities who graced the event, including Tiger Shroff, Sunny Leone, Vishal Dadlani, Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Kriti Kharbanda, Bharti Singh, and Krushna Abhishek. Notably, these celebrities not only attended but also performed at the wedding. Chandrakar is alleged to have used secretive channels to handle payments to these stars.
Massive Hawala Transaction Unveiled
In addition to the lavish expenses, Chandrakar is believed to have transferred Rs 112 crore, purportedly through clandestine means, to an events management company. The ED has frozen assets totaling Rs 417 crore in connection with the Mahadev online betting case. The online betting operation, based in Dubai, is suspected of using the platform to enroll new users, generate user IDs, move money around through a complicated network of secret bank accounts.
The kingpins behind the Mahadev Online Book Betting application originate from Bhilai in Chhattisgarh.
