India Resumes Visa Services in Canada After Diplomatic Row

In a positive turn of events, India has decided to partially resume its visa services in Canada, following a month-long suspension amid a diplomatic dispute. The Indian High Commission in Ottawa made the announcement today, offering hope to individuals and businesses alike.

The High Commission’s statement clarified that services would resume for entry visas, business visas, medical visas, and conference visas, marking a significant step towards mending relations between the two nations.

The suspension of visa services had been implemented in September as tensions escalated due to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s allegations regarding the potential involvement of Indian agents in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian citizen and the chief of the banned Khalistan Tiger Force, one of India’s most-wanted terrorists.

However, this move toward resuming visa services was preceded by a recent statement from India’s Foreign Minister, S. Jaishankar, who indicated that visa services to Canada could be reinstated if progress was seen in ensuring the safety of Indian diplomats in Canada.
