Sanjay Raut, the head of the Shiv Sena, left the Arthur Road jail on Wednesday just hours after being granted bail in a case of money laundering brought by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Today, the co-accused Sena MP and his assistant Pravin Raut appeared before a special court. Bail was also granted to Pravin. After the Bench rejected the Enforcement Directorate’s request for an immediate stay of Raut’s bail, the Bombay High Court scheduled a hearing for this Thursday.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to destroy and rebuild the flyover at Parel TT, on Babasaheb Ambedkar Road, in Parel near Dadar, adding to the traffic concerns of Mumbai residents. Senior BMC officials predicted that the bridge would likely be closed within the next month.

The Gokhale Bridge in Andheri was recently stopped to traffic by the BMC because its girders had become insecure and dangerous. The municipal organisation had issued work orders for the project in October and is currently seeking a certificate of no objection. The entire project, including demolition and rehabilitation, will be finished in six months.

Tuesday saw the continuation of protests against the Marathi historical action film “Har Har Mahadev” over alleged “distortion of facts” as NCP activists and members of an organisation founded by Sambhaji Chhatrapati, a descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, interfered with the screening at a multiplex in Nashik city.

Jitendra Awhad, a top NCP figure and former Maharashtra minister, and at least 100 other people were the subject of a case filed by the Thane Police earlier that day for allegedly assaulting moviegoers during a multiplex screening in Thane on Monday night.
