At the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, England defeated Pakistan by five wickets to win the second Twenty20 World Cup. Ben Stokes maintained his composure with an unbeaten half-century. English turned the tables on the south Asians with excellent death bowling and with Stokes finishing on 52 not out in a chase of 138 for victory, thirty years after losing the 50-over World Cup final to Pakistan at the MCG.
Earlier. In the T20 World Cup final on Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground versus Pakistan, England won the toss and elected to bat first. From their semi-finals, neither team altered. Pakistan scored 137 runs in the allotted 20 overs.
Sam Curran was named the player of the match 3/12 and the player of the tournament 12 wickets in six matches.
