A magnitude 3.9 earthquake struck the Gourela-Pendra-Marwahi and Korba districts of Chhattisgarh on Sunday at 9 am, causing alarm among residents.
The quake’s epicenter was located approximately 5 kilometers beneath the ground in Korba West. The intensity of the tremors led people to swiftly evacuate their homes, with reports of the sound of tremors being heard in Korba.
The earthquake’s impact left several houses in the affected areas with cracks, and the shaking lasted for around 3 to 4 seconds. Authorities have advised residents to remain vigilant in the aftermath of the quake.
This incident follows a similar event in Himachal Pradesh on August 10, when tremors were felt in the Lahaul-Spiti region. The National Center for Seismology reported a magnitude of 3.3 on the Richter scale for the Himachal quake, which occurred late at night.
