Mumbai Police launched a special operation throughout the city on Saturday night that lasted into the early hours of Sunday, capturing multiple offenders in various cases, according to an official statement.
According to the police, the city was subjected to a special ‘All Out Operation’ led by Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar and Special Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti. The operation included all areas of the city as well as the traffic police, and several criminals were apprehended.
According to an official, an operation was conducted out on Sunday to apprehend criminals, drug peddlers, and motorists who were violating city regulations.
The Mumbai Police nabbed around 200 wanted suspects during the operation, according to the statement.
On the intervening nights of Saturday and Sunday, police conducted combing operations at around 215 locations throughout the city. According to an official, police officers checked 955 felons, with 236 wanted suspects arrested.
During the operation, 19 drug-related offences were registered, and 28 peddlers were apprehended in the city. At least 83 persons were also prosecuted for using narcotics substances.
According to the police, 323 people accused of robbery in Mumbai have been investigated.
The police stated they apprehended 48 persons who had been expelled from the city during the operation.
During the All Out Operation, Mumbai police checked around 600 hotels, lodges, and other enterprises.
According to authorities, 28 persons were arrested for illegally possessing guns.
During the special operation, the police also took action against 69 people under the Maharashtra Police Act.
According to the police, 5,927 motorists were checked during the operation, and 1,995 violators were prosecuted.
The Mumbai Police undertakes special operations on a regular basis to preserve peace and order in the city as well as for security considerations. According to a police official, the operation includes zonal DCPs, Division ACPs, senior police officials, and city police personnel.
