A recent attempt at gold smuggling was prevented by Delhi Customs officials, who nabbed a group of eight individuals arriving from Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The passengers, who landed at Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi via Flight No HY 421, were detained after 5.319 kg of gold, including 50 gold chains, was found concealed in their possession.
The clever modus operandi involved concealing the gold chains within a hollow box attached to the back panel of a baggage trolley, demonstrating a new and innovative approach to smuggling.
The discovery was made as the passengers were crossing the International Arrival Hall’s exit gate after passing through the Green Channel.
Delhi Customs officers acted promptly upon identifying suspicious activity, leading to the seizure of the concealed gold and the subsequent arrest of the individuals involved.
The Customs officials credited their success to their thorough profiling and careful observation, which enabled them to identify irregularities in the passengers’ actions.
As the investigation progresses, the authorities remain committed to ensuring that justice is served and that those involved in any form of illegal trade are held accountable for their actions.
