NDTV’s much-anticipated foray into Chhattisgarh was celebrated today as the Chief Minister, Shri Bhupesh Baghel, engaged in a thoughtful discussion on the occasion of the launch of NDTV’s MP/Chhattisgarh channel. The conversation revolved around the significance of the state’s cultural heritage and its journey towards development.

Chief Minister Baghel recounted the historical context of Chhattisgarh’s formation, highlighting the role of its unique culture in shaping its identity when it was a part of Madhya Pradesh. Despite the passage of time, he acknowledged that the people of the state had yet to fully embrace the joys of its newly formed status. He emphasized that the government had initiated efforts to preserve and promote the cultural richness that defines Chhattisgarh.

The Chief Minister shed light on Chhattisgarh’s profound connection to Lord Ram, describing it as the ‘Nanihal’ (maternal grandparents’ home) of Lord Ram. He mentioned how the state’s landscapes mirror his journey through the forests during his exile. Baghel also pointed out the remarkable coexistence of diverse religions, exemplified in places like Sirpur. He noted the enduring influence of Kabir, Guru Ghasidas, and Swami Vivekananda, whose teachings continue to resonate within the state.

A key theme was the respect for differing opinions in Chhattisgarh, where advice is sought from all quarters. Baghel underlined the importance of perpetuating positive traditions while addressing those that need rectification.

The Chief Minister highlighted the impact of government policies, citing a NITI Aayog survey that showcased the upliftment of over 40 lakh people from poverty. He announced plans for English medium colleges to ensure students from Swami Atmanand English Medium School receive uninterrupted English education.

The inclusive nature of the government’s schemes was acknowledged by Baghel, emphasizing that people from all sections of society have experienced improved living standards. He shared the significance of Lord Ram in Chhattisgarh’s faith and mentioned efforts to expand Kaushalya Mandir.

The establishment of mobile clinics, aimed at enhancing medical access across the state, was a point of pride for the Chief Minister. He celebrated the rich cultural diversity of the country and the state’s dedication to preserving its unique traditions.

In a heartwarming moment, Chief Minister Baghel granted presenter Shri Sanket Upadhyay’s request and concluded the discussion by singing the devotional song “Shri Ramchandra Kripalu Bhajman, Haran Bhav Bhay Darunam.”
